Play Dough recipe

I hate play dough, but the kids love it.  Here is my mom’s play dough recipe.  This makes a generous ball of play dough.  Add a rolling pin, clay sculpting tools and a few cookie cutters and you have a great gift.

1 cup flour

1/4 cup salt

2 teaspoons cream of tartar

1 package koolaid (The type you have to add sugar to.  This is for color and smell.)

1 cup water

2 Tablespoons oil

Mix dry ingredients then add oil and water.  Cook on medium heat.  Stir continuously until play dough is firm.

I leave out the koolaid and either leave it white, add turmeric to color it yellow or use food coloring.  You can add glitter, but that, of course, makes it non-edible.  I think next time I will try adding cinnamon to make it smell yummy.  And no, you can’t omit the cream of tartar.  I’ve tried and it doesn’t work.
